Hello Keelandra, you have selected a great topic. I selected a different topic on creating
safe learning environments, but I think it somehow related or connects to the one you selected on
students with disabilities. One of the strategies of having a safe learning environment is by
making modifications and accommodations and ensure that students study in a less-threatening
environment. Some threats are not violent in nature but entail the failure to accommodate
someone who may be different from a majority of the student population due to their disability.
For instance, students with reading disabilities require that reading materials be presented in a
format such as audio or video so that the accessibility and usability of the learning materials are
enhanced. A student with a learning disability being presented only with a printed textbook may
feel that the learning environment is unsafe because it does not accommodate them and cater to
their needs. I think that safety is diverse, and when dealing with students with disabilities, it
becomes a more pertinent issue.

Hello Crystal, the topic you selected greatly interests me because I feel that teacher
preparation is critical to the success of an educational system. Teachers are the prime movers of
any system of education. They play a central role in the implementation of the curriculum.
Teachers also spend a lot of time with students and thus play a major role in shaping their
attitudes and behaviors. Without proper preparation, then teachers can affect the academic and
future success of their learners. As such, when teachers are prepared to take on leadership roles

in the 21 st century, the system is also indirectly preparing students to take on such leadership
roles in the future.
