To start, you canOne of the strategies that I will implement as a classroom teacher is scaffolding. Through
scaffolding, I will support students so that they can be in a better position to master content and
be able to carry out activities that initially seemed out of reach. The strategy will enable me to
work with students, help them become more independent and able to work on academic work
effectively without getting stuck. It is an effective strategy that will enable me to bridge the gap
between what students can do at the beginning of an instruction period, to what they are able to
achieve in the end. Scaffolding enables the teacher to “make a task accessible” to students (Sousa
& Tomlinson, 2011).
I will implement scaffolding by working with students and equipping them with the
necessary skills to work on their own. I will ensure that the level of difficulty advances to ensure
that the students grow and learn how to be independent thinkers, who create content as opposed
to just consuming it. Through scaffolding, the content will eventually become natural to the
students. when this happens, I will escalate the content, raise the difficulty level so that learning
can occur. When students are able to complete a task with no difficulty, they will achieve good
grades, but learning will not occur. Also, if the level exceeds the ability of learners, learning will
not occur. Therefore, I will implement the technique by guiding students and equipping them
with skills that are at their instructional level. The technique will enable me to match learner’s
current point of readiness, ensure they receive the necessary support to learn effectively, help
them achieve appropriate practice for mastery, as well as introduce content that is new and that
will foster learning (Sousa & Tomlinson, 2011).
In implementing differentiation techniques, I will use the support of my colleagues so
that it can be a success. some of the things that they will support me with is professional
materials that have worked for them in the past, and they could help me handle students whose
readiness levels are low. Specifically. I will consult colleagues that have been in the teaching
profession longer than I, and whose experience has taught them skills in handling certain
situations in class. Some issues, such as student readiness are very dynamic. A student can be
ready today but the level might go down the following day, and that could significantly affect the
achievement of objectives. Thus, I will work hand in hand with teachers whose expertise will be
instrumental in helping me with the knowledge and skills on how to handle such issues. Further,
I will use the support of my colleagues to prepare learning profiles for my students. their support
will come in handle immediately after joining the profession and when handling my first class.
This will be quite a task because I will be doing it professionally for my first time. Thus, their
support will go along way in helping e understand my students, creating their profiles and
successfully selecting the right strategies to meet the diverse learning styles of the different
learners that I will be handling.
