Innovative Care Models

Innovative care models are novel facets incorporated into the healthcare practice by
improving patient organizations, developing a high-value system of staff, and promoting
patient safety. The installation of the innovative care models involves building a consensus and
will for change in the organization, brainstorming ideas, and implementing them in the care
procedures (Cacchione, 2020). The models present opportunities to identify gaps in care and
develop an innovative technology that can address the shortcomings. For example, developing
the plan of care for a patient would require an electronic health system that can be accessed by
various personnel within the facility (laboratory, radiology, consulting physician, and pharmacy).
The role of the nurse leaders in implementing the innovative care models is through
providing guidance and leadership in various units such as critical care, as explained by Hahn
et al. (2019). The nurse leaders need to train and coach the unit members on the need for
change, and they also need to provide supervision that sustains the necessary behavior for
critical thinking among the staff. The nurse leaders need to educate the team members on the
new concepts that will enable them to understand the necessary change. The nurse leaders
provide critical thinking methodologies and guide the entire process by using a transformative
leadership style (Kennedy & Moen, 2017). The efforts of the nurse leaders in promoting
innovative care models should be notified to enhance employee engagement. The nurses are

the key implementers of the innovative models since they are in contact with the patients at
most times.
The innovative modes of care can positively affect collaboration between advanced
registered nurses and other stakeholders when the management invokes participative decision-
making, especially in palliative care (Venkatesh et al., 2019). The registered nurses are at the
forefront as the agents of change. They have the prerequisite knowledge to drive the innovation
process and utilize technology to provide quality care to their patients. Further, the registered
nurses are also more equipped with innovative ideas to benefit the administrators and patients
who visit the facility. The registered nurses have the impetus to develop new technology and
accompanying strategies for implementation in practice, which collectively improves the
quality of care delivered to the clients. This can equally be possible by using correct models of
change that allow for periodical evaluation and improvement of the models to address the
dynamic needs of the patients. The advanced registered leaders should be patient enough and
resilient in ensuring that the implementation process takes off. Any technical hitches during the
implementation process can be addressed by a group of experts who will be available for
prompt consultation and service in the case of software and hardware technology.
In conclusion, the primary aim of registered nurses is to do extensive research and
generate innovative solutions and best practices that can be applied to meet the needs of the
patients. Similarly, the registered nurses also foster a collaborative mindset with other
stakeholders during the dissemination exercise. The stakeholders will have sufficient
information on the workability and sustainability of the proposed innovations in promoting
positive patient outcomes.
