Volunteer Work Journal

Among the top ten moments the one that motivated me the most is the one about
volunteering for MedWash. MedWash is an organization that recovers unused medical
supplies and equipment and ships them to developing countries where they are used to save
lives in hospitals which otherwise not afford them (Because I said I would, 2015). I found the
work of the organization inspiring because its work allows many hospitals in developing
countries to get the necessary supplies and equipment that they need to not only provide
quality care to patients but also save lives.
As my motivating moment above shows, I have always been moved by actions that
help vulnerable groups. That is why my wish is to volunteer for an organization that seeks to
change or improve the lives of homeless people. I have always been touched by the plight of
homeless people. It is hard to imagine someone living without a safe and comfortable place to
sleep or having no food security. It is even more depressing in the current situation created by
the Covid-19 global pandemic which requires people to maintain social distancing and, when
sick, isolate themselves. For homeless people, the current pandemic only adds another layer
of woes to their already difficult lives.
Touched by the plight of homeless people especially during this Covid-19 pandemic, I
would wish to volunteer for an organization that will allow me to impact their lives. This
impact can be created through volunteering for actions, such as delivering foods, clothes,
masks, blankets, mattresses, and other supplies to homeless people. I could also help in
preparing food for people suffering from homelessness for an organization that helps them.
In view of my wishes to have a positive impact on the lives of homeless people, I
would like to volunteer for Feeding America. Feeding America is one of the biggest hunger-
relief organizations in the nation. Through a network of more than 200 food banks, the

organization seeks to feed millions of people in the country who suffer from hunger in the
nation, especially homeless people (Feeding America). Volunteering for this organization is
important to me because it will allow me to have a positive impact on the lives of homeless
people.
