Employees in any workplace need to be adequately compensated for their services. One major
aspect of compensation relates to the paychecks that employees take home (Stewart & Brown,
2020). While compensation is understood to be the amount of money that employees receive in
salaries, it goes beyond this definition. Compensation includes the whole package of rewards
monetary as psychological rewards that employees receive. Good compensation poses various
advantages to an organization. A company that gives good compensation is likely to attract
talented employees. Employees are also likely to stay in organizations they feel are giving them

Compensation is an important factor that employees consider. In the COVID-19
pandemic, companies have been struggling to adequately compensate their employees for the
work that they have done. Lack of sufficient compensation coupled with the challenges of
COVID-19 have resulted in low morale of employees (Alan, 2021). Many legislative bodies
have attempted to shield employees, especially in the critical services sector, from inadequate
