Emergence of DNP

In recent years, nursing has been influenced either socially, economically, or
professionally. To begin with, social aspects such as social justice and health equity are very
good influencers in nursing that taught and developed as skills in nursing. With the will
to achieve these social aspects, nursing becomes more efficient and objective (Dahlke
& Hunter, 2021). Secondly, economic changes such as low income and poverty result in
people not being able to afford their health expenses. In the end, nursing practice is not affordable
to all.
On the other hand, governments have made health services universal and accessible to
everyone, making nursing practice successful (Scott & Scott, 2020). Lastly, professional
changes such as education level achieved, nursing environment, and adherence to
professionalism have greatly influenced nursing (Ducharme et al., 2017). A nurse with good
quality education, a good working environment, and who adheres to the ethics and legal aspects is
more productive than those with inadequate professionalism.
In my opinion, nursing requires consistent learning because there is unending new or
improved technology in the profession. However, knowledge of the past can be critical when
dealing with certain health situations. It can be used to develop some nursing procedures or
technology to make nursing as flexible as possible. It is important to possess past knowledge
when dealing with illnesses that have persisted or affected a significant number of community
members. It makes a practitioner understand the history of the illness and its characteristics.
After reading different nursing theories, other learning materials from other disciplines, and
my personal experience as a nurse, I have reached my opinion. My views have greatly been
shaped by learning from fellow professionals through directly interacting with them, asking
questions, and observing them perform their duties.
