Chapter 11
The evaluation of a design or project is very critical and there is a need for expert and peer review and usability testing. Many opt to skip it as it is time-consuming and costly, however, when conducted it stands to bring more benefit and improvement to the design. (Brown & Green, 2020) Through expert review and usability testing, the strengths of the design are noted and can be maintained or improved. The weaknesses of the design are also identified and the designers can rectify them before launching the design. This in turn saves on time and cost that would have been spent on rectifying the design had it been implemented without proper evaluation. Experts also give feedback and recommendations on fixing usability problems that may have been noted.
Chapter 12
In designing the brochure for a university’s graduate program in instructional design/technology, I would suggest a catchy and enticing cover. (Brown & Green, 2020) The cover should contain a color that is appealing to the eye, for this I would go with a light blue color. The cover should contain a picture of the university’s main entrance at the top followed by the name of the graduate course. Beneath this should be a quick mention of the overall skills that one will obtain after completing the course. Having at least three professionals that one can venture in with the obtained skills and knowledge is advisable as it gives the readers a hint of where they’re heading. At the bottom of the brochure, put a previously taken photo of graduates preferably one where they are celebrating by throwing their graduate cap in the air. This design is enticing to the readers and also offers a summary of what is in the brochure.
