To start, you canThe search for a credible primary resource is a tough task. The selection of keywords and
the search strategies define whether or not an individual will succeed in the task. I have a lot of
interest in mental health. As a result, I started my search with mental health articles. I found the
search ineffective and thus chose a different strategy. I searched “drug abuse and addiction
study.” I relied on the Ebscohost database. I found an article entitled Naloxone and the Inner-
City Youth Experience (NICYE): a community-based participatory research study examining
young people’s perceptions of the BC take-home naloxone program.
The study examines take-home naloxone programs (THN) and their effectiveness in
reducing mortality. Naloxone is a drug that helps in reversing the effects of opioid overdoses.
The research problem addressed in the study is the effectiveness of THN programs among young
people in Vancouver (Mitchell et al., 2017). The study relies on interviews as its primary
methodology. Participants painted themselves as people who are vulnerable to overdoses. They,
therefore, insisted on the need to have THN programs expanded to eliminate the possibility of
overdose-related deaths. After training on the use of naloxone, participants reported an increased
sense of safety. Clinical practice aims at enhancing patient care. It also analyzes the benefits and
harms of various patient care options. The article helps address drug overdose patients and
suggests a method through which mortality can be reduced. It evaluates the effectiveness of THN
and analyzes how the programs can be strengthened.
