The study will address the following question: “how do entertainers negatively affect the
well-being of athletes and employees?” The hypotheses are as follows:
Null Hypothesis (H 0 ): Glamorous entertainers do not influence the well-being of athletes.
Alternate Hypothesis 1 (H 1 ): Charming entertainers are viewed as trustworthy by the audience,
affecting the well-being of athletes.
Alternative Hypothesis 2: Exposure to sensitive information about athletes affects their
performance.
The type of study appropriate for this research is a qualitative study, and the kind of data
to be collected in the study is ordinal, collected through surveys and interviews (Jhangiani et al.,
2015). The most appropriate data analysis technique for this study is narrative analysis.
Population and Sample
The study participants will be male and female athletes and employees: the ratio is 3:2.
The age bracket for the sample should be between 18-35 years. The most suitable sampling
technique for the study is purposeful sampling because it helps obtain in-depth information about
a phenomenon (Palinkas et al., 2015).
Variables and Measures
Dependent variables include confidence and self-esteem because they both affect the
performance of athletes, while the independent variable is the attractiveness of entertainers
(Glimayres, 2017). The variables used in the study can be measured with the help of ordinal
scales.
Data Collection Methods
3
The data for this study will be collected with the help of questionnaires and surveys.
Notably, the data type to be collected is ordinal since no statistical analysis is required (Witte &
Witte, 2017).
Data Analysis Methods
The narrative analysis will be used to analyze the data collected. Narrative analysis is
appropriate for this study because it assists in interpreting data from interviews and surveys
(Mihas, 2019). Descriptive methods (measures of position, central tendency, and frequency) can
also be used together with tables and graphical representations (bar charts, pie charts, and line
graphs).
