Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis)

Inflammatory bowel disease (crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis) is represented mainly by
ulcerative colitis and crohn’s disease that are characterized by chronic inflammation of the
gastrointestinal(GI) tract combined interactions of dysregulation of immune
reactions,environmental factors and disease susceptibility genes are known to induce the disease
often leading to erosions and ulcers ,some guidelines and evidence has been presented in order
to come up with first line treatment for patients with this disease.
The causes of the disease are not clear however in a recent research it showed that increased use
of biologics as the only main cure for inflammatory bowels and crohn’s diseases was found to
have some high risks on patients for variety of infections of which many are preventable by prior
vaccinations most immunizations may be safely administered to both children and adults and
can be of high benefits for those with lethal complications of infections. (Baumgart & Carding,
2007)
.In the last decade treatment for inflammatory bowels disease has improved drastically with the
introduction of new biologic therapies and the goal is to induce and maintain remission.Recent
study showed that dietary fiber is the most reliable treatment in terms of management of
symptoms and care of the pathology given that some methods are time consuming and uses a lot
of resourses. (McNamar,, Saeian, & Saeian, 2003)
With the revised guidelines which were analysed systematically and the appropriate key word
used as well as their files giving information on different infectious agents and the guidelines on
patients with inflammatory bowel disease travelling and moving around especially on remote
area and less developed countries and the vaccination was proposed considering those exposed
on biologics therapies
