permeating the field (Gopalan et al. 13). Moreover, the impact of these programs on individuals
and communities remains largely indeterminate, further adding to the already perplexing
situation. Against this backdrop, this study aims to embark on a comprehensive, systematic, and
meticulous review of the existing literature on mental health programs, with the overarching
objective of evaluating their effectiveness in bolstering mental health and mitigating the onerous
burden of mental illness.
The Rationale for the Study
The intricacies of mental health have long been established as an indispensable aspect of
one’s holistic well-being. Yet, the rampant prevalence of mental health disorders worldwide calls

health programs can effectively improve mental health outcomes and reduce mental illness’s
burden (355). Regrettably, the sheer magnitude of mental health disorders globally is a cause for
great concern. Addressing this issue necessitates assessing the effectiveness of mental health
programs, and a systematic review of the literature can shed light on this matter. Such an
endeavor can holistically synthesize the existing evidence on the effectiveness of mental health
programs, lay bare the limitations of the interventions provided, and identify the most effective
programs that can be used in practice.
Additionally, this study will help synthesize available evidence on the effectiveness of
mental health programs. The value of a systematic review of the literature cannot be understated
