RN nurse managers are the cornerstones of nursing administration as they are the daily
“gatekeepers of communications” with staff RNs (Porter et al., 2019). According to Porter et al.
(2019), the key to RN retention is the effectiveness of the RN nurse leaders’ relationships with
staff and their communication styles.
As we explore this week, the role of nurse executives’ pays particular attention to our role and
how we can support and facilitate the growth of the RN managers, communication styles, and
cultural and emotional competence in critical conversations while promoting our healthcare
organization’s mission and philosophy!
As nurse executives, our patients, staff, providers, and community benefit from excellent
communication. It increases RN staff retention for better patient outcomes, manages our
organizational budgets, and increases patient satisfaction scores for maintaining Medicare and
Medicaid requirements for quality and care!
