The Economic Influence of Clean Energy in US

Reality of global climate change due to rising carbon emissions makes it imperative that
U.S.A economy dramatically cut its consumption of traditional fossil fuels, the primary source of
carbon dioxide delivered into our atmosphere by human activity. Rising levels of carbon dioxide
in the atmosphere is in turn the primary cause of global warming. America therefore faces an
enormous challenge of successfully managing the transformation from a carbon intensive
economy to becoming a predominantly clean energy-based economy. The main effects of this
shift are dramatic increase in energy efficiency, dramatic lowering in cost of supplying energy
from renewable sources of energy such as solar and biomass and mandating and establishing a
price on pollution from burning oil, coal and natural gas.
Incorporating clean energy in the United States can generate roughly $150 billion per
year in new clean-energy investments over the next decade. This new spending annually includes
government funding but is dominated by private -sector investments. Sustained expansion in
clean-energy investments triggered by the economic stimulus program can generate a net
increase of about 1.7 million jobs. This expansion in job opportunities can continue as long as
the economy maintains a commitment to clean-energy investments in the $150 billion per year
range. If clean-energy investments expand still faster, overall job creation will increase
correspondingly. More jobs will be created improving lives of more Americans and also reduce

the amount of unemployment. Clean energy also known as renewable energy provides an
additional source of income for rural landowners and farmers. The U.S.A government provides
$222 million to rural landowners who host wind farms on their property. They can also make
money by growing plants that can be used as biofuels. Switching to renewable energy is a great
way for residential, commercial and industrial energy customers to save money on their bills. For
example, installing solar panels on your property allows you to generate your own electricity,
theoretically giving you the ability to reduce your energy bill to zero.
Using clean energy on property increases its value significantly. For example, installing
solar panels on property, its value increases by $20 dollars for every dollar saved on energy bills.
Homeowners may be able to recoup a significant amount of the cost of installing their solar
modules when they sell their house. Installing clean energy facilities requires a substantial
upfront investment, but after installation, they are cheap to operate. This is in large part because
they do not require you to purchase fuel. Eliminating fuel costs lowers the cost of the electricity
produced and also means the price of electricity isn’t susceptible to changes in the price of fuels,
like it is with natural gas or coal. Switching to clean energy has a lot of economic benefits that
the U.S.A government should consider on utilizing. More money is saved and put into other uses
and the benefits of it all are reaped by everyone.
