Reflection on Introducing STEM in Early Education

I will introduce STEM skills in my future classroom in a non-intimidating, yet engaging
approach. As students in early education are learning basic concepts through hands-on activities,
I would encourage trial-and-error until they are comfortable with complex STEM activities. I am
confident that beginning with fun and accessible concepts will help students’ mindsets grow. For
instance, I would sustain the learning process by including STEM projects in lesson plans
throughout the school year. However, these skills can only be cultivated with the right tools, thus
the need to utilize available resources. It is also important to understand that projects would
require active engagement of students, I will strive to support learning by constantly asking
questions about what they are learning, giving feedback, and self-assessments. To be in the best
position to support STEM skills development in my future classroom, I will ensure that I
continue to educate myself. The advantages of lifelong learning go beyond career advancement.
In the STEM context, lifelong learning helps teachers develop better attitudes and mindsets
towards STEM disciplines. It would also help prevent anxiety that is associated with STEM
competence, especially when culturally dispositioned. The world is also dynamic, and lifelong
learning enables professionals to stay relevant and advance their skills.
