Adding Simple Graphic Elements

This week’s topic is adding simple graphic elements. This topic is important because
processing word documents requires incorporating text and graphic elements. Graphic elements
enhance the appearance of documents and make it easy for the reader to understand the content.

Graphics are visual objects that may include pictures, clip art, diagrams, charts, and
shapes (Lambert, 2019). Microsoft world allows the application of this function through the
insert function. For example, a photo or image can be selected from the photos stored in the
device or downloaded online (Lambert,2019). Once inserted, the photos can be edited to resize
them, modify their appearance, and position them. Shapes and figures also provide the
convenience of purpose. For example, chain processes can be illustrated using shapes in circles
or rectangles and arrows to show the direction of the process.
Item C
Graphic elements provide unique features that achieve only some of the functions that
cannot be achieved without graphics. For example, when illustrating an organizational structure
explaining in the text may be satisfactory, but including a graphic achieves more efficiency.
Word has a feature called smart art that has different categories of smart art, such as processes,
lists, cycles, flow charts, etc (Kvale, 2016). They can be modified by adding or removing shapes
to fit the context and ideal format for the purpose.

Another importance of images is that they are essential in creative writing. For example, when
one wants to create a brochure in Microsoft Word, it could involve the use of graphics and
images. Brochures are used primarily for marketing, and as such, using images may help create
something eye-catching.
