Part one
The audience the advertisements are trying to reach is the youths and women. This is
because the advertisements have incorporated music, dance and arts with young women
being the majority. The unspoken and/or underlying message the advertisements are sending
is the message of empowerment, of acceptance, accepting how one is, accepting and
respecting how others are. Finally but not least is the message that we are in modern times
and change is needed from behaviours of the past.
The groups in the adverts have presented a happy mood and behaviour. They were
full of joy, cheerful and they were also high on confidence. The underlying message about
the group behaviours in the advertisements is that of less judgement others and support for
one another.
Different cultures are represented in the advertisements. People of different races,
different genders, and different age groups are all represented in the advertisement although
the majority being the youths. Since the advertisements incorporates different stereotypes, the
underlying message about cultures is that of unity and togetherness, living in the present and
a better future for all.
The advertisements do not confirm biases or rely on any stereotype. The
advertisements are fair enough. The only advertisement that relied on stereotypes was the one
for Dove body lotion. On Sky witness: Empowering Idents which was made for women and
came with all types of different women. The advertisements also promoted social changes
and that is why you could see different stereotypes interacting. On social or political
movement, it is very clear it was neutral and did not get much involved in that.
Advertisement should get a bit more involved in social or political movements.
Advertisements are things people come across everyday. They should not be biased
since this could lead to a certain stereotype to lower their confidence since they do not see
their type getting more appreciated and might also lead hate of another stereotype. For
example racial conflicts might be ignited.

How can information possessed from advertisements be aggregated by individuals to
make best decisions?
Sociology is a social science concept that I used to derive my question.
Advertisements come from a range of different concepts or ideas, advertisement are meant to
be seen and heard by human beings since they involve some of their interests and they are
designed in ways that they get attention from the people they were targeted to. All this
information is supposed to be for the betterment of human life. Adverts should be to build
and help the evolution and growth of mankind and so the information passed should be
always positive.
Recent gun violence in the United States of America. Advertisements should be a way
of making life better. From the recent mass shootings in the USA, is a lesson. Advertisements
should be created to teach people that guns are not toys and that they are a way for security
purposes and only security. The information from the ads should be educative for the social
development. In the future a person who gets the idea of using guns for violence, he or she
might end up thinking twice because they have been watching ads on their television about
gun safety and campaigns against gun violence.
Part three
The expectation from the ads was just as I found them. Not biased in anyway, after all
this is a modern world where issues like racism have reduced. Focus was more on those ads
with music playing in the background. Its interesting and attractive to a point it could be
repeated. Anybody from elderly to kids would enjoy some of the ads too.
Sociology is the social science approach that can well be used to process information.
Analysing ads on the basis of human interactions and the process that change is key on
analysing ads. Societies, institutions, communities, population, gender, race and age are all
factors to be looked into when analysing ads.
Social life regulates human behaviours therefore depending on social institutions to
inform decisions and actions. It is social science perspectives tasks to dictate how
organisations affect the behaviour of persons.
A community is a system made up diverse human ideas and behaviours, and full of
division caused by diversity. Through examining issues from a social science perspective, my
community could tackle issues using the ideas for their benefit. Social science helps
understand how the people will conceptualize, participate in, embrace and actively ensure
social and technical sustainability.
Being more informed about the social sciences may help understand global
contemporary issues. For example, environmental issues are not just technical challenges that
will be solved with a new invention. Tackling climate change for example will need insight
from psychology and sociology. Scientific and technological innovations, enabling them to
make an impact requires an understanding of how people adapt and change their behaviour.
