To start, you canThe healthcare system is designed to take care of the needs of the patients. The
healthcare system achieves this goal by ensuring that the symptoms that patients exhibit are
relieved, curing diseases, and improving the quality of life in patients (Montreuil, Martineau,
& Racine, 2019). However, in fulfilling these goals, the healthcare system must also take into
consideration of the financial aspects associated with the delivery of healthcare services. The
delivery of healthcare services requires financing. Healthcare workers must be paid and drugs
that are used in the treatment process must be acquired at a cost. Patients are thus required to
incur huge costs when seeking healthcare services.
The cost of healthcare is rising every day. The implication is that not all patients may
be able to afford quality healthcare services. This introduces an ethical issue that relates to
justice and equity. The tenets of justice state that fairness must be observed in the allocation
and distribution of resources (Silva, 1998). However, the financial complexity of the current
healthcare system makes it difficult to allocate healthcare resources in a just manner. The
compensation of healthcare workers is based on an increase in the cost of living. As a result,
the cost of healthcare cannot remain constant in the wake of the increasing cost of living. An
unfair system has been created and this introduces ethical challenges. Healthcare
organizations have to make decisions on whether to take care of the needs of patients or
fulfil financial obligations that help them to stay afloat.
