Summarize the challenges you think you may face developing a marketing plan for your
mentor company
Amazon is a company that is considered a global giant in the corporate world. Therefore,
it is expected that the corporation could face several challenges due to operating in many
jurisdictions. I would expect a challenge in generating and using data. Modern corporations
understand the need for using big data to generate sales leads, identify trends, avoid risks and
speculate. Ethical consideration and legal implications mean that Amazon has to spend
financially for surveys to be done, which can be a daunting task even with the size of amazon.
One of the many marketing strategies available for sales requires corporations to speculate what
customers want by looking at their data; not many potential customers are willing to give their
data willingly. Many potential customers also do not like watching ads for products they are not
interested in. On the flip side, many corporations have been accused of collecting data
anonymously, which is illegal and unethical. Therefore, while marketing data and analytics are
mandatory for marketing, Amazon has to consider the cost-benefit analysis and the legal and
ethical implications of collecting, storing, and using marketing data.
Additionally, I may have a challenge generating content for an international audience.
Complexities of operating in a global market can make it difficult for our marketing strategies to
create content that will resonate with its international customers. Such complexities arise due to
various cultures, languages, beliefs, religions and political ideologies in our target market. Most
of Amazon’s potential customers visit their website and online pages. We must then be creative
enough to create engaging content to convert potential customers into first time and subsequent
customers, which can be challenging.
I may have a challenge dealing with competition. Amazon may have a global audience but its
business model has gained attention due to advancements in technology and the COVID-19
pandemic. The restriction of movement in 2020 meant that people had to find other ways of
getting their products where they wanted them without risking contracting the virus. While
Amazon is widely regarded as a giant in that field and has diversified over time, the market has
new entrants that can cause stiff competition.

The corporation can create effective market strategies by focusing on the following questions;

2) Are we well prepared and ready for the world’s future in the digital marketplace, digital

and new competition?
4) How accurate is the marketing data that we rely on? Does it help the marketing strategies
now and in the future?
