To start, you canBased on the LCI results, I am a strong-willed learner. My scale score for Sequence is 32,
and my level is Use First. My scale score for precision is 31, and I use it at a Use First level. I
scored 21 in technical, and this means that I use this pattern as needed. Lastly, I scored 29 at
Confluence, and I use it at a Use First level.
I use Sequence personally, and I know this because I am a very neat person. My office is
usually tidy, and I like things done accordingly. When training my basketball team, I usually
have expectations for each layer. I work and make a follow-up to ensure that I help each one of
them meet their targets. It is easy to know when I am doing things the right way or not.
Academically, I like it when assignments have clear directions. When I start on an assignment, I
do it neatly from the beginning to the end. I like step-by-step directions, and I follow each of
them when completing my assignments. This applies both academically and even at my
workplace. I do not take short-cuts.
Secondly, I use precision at a use first level. I am a generally inquisitive person, and this
applies in my personal relationships, and professionally. I ask questions a lot because I prefer
getting it right from the word go. Conversely, I also like answering questions. When I meet a
person for the first time, I ask about them and also volunteer to tell the team about myself. When
training my basketball team, I encourage them to ask questions, and I ensure I respond to each
one of them. I feel that one of the ways to ensure that we do things accurately is to ask questions
and seek clarifications. This way, we do not leave room for guesses and errors that could have
been avoided in the first place. Also, I seek documentation for my success. That is why I keep a
record of my academic progress. I also record the progress of my team because I think I am
success-oriented. I am motivated by positive results.
I use technical reasoning as needed. I do not feel the urgency to use this pattern. However,
when the need arises, I use it. Mostly, this pattern lies dormant until there is a need to engage it.
In most cases, I like documenting things. Thus, my way of doing things conflicts with technical
reasoning which does not prefer writing things down. Some of the instances when I use this
pattern is when there is limited time to accomplish a task. For instance, when a test is timed, and
I am timed, I do not have time to write things down or document the process. Then I use
technical reasoning. Also, I delegate tasks a lot because I like my children to acquire the skills
and learn to be independent. Thus, if a task can be shared, I do not see the need to do it on my
own. Likewise, when coaching basketball players, I like to have them acquire the skills and do
the tasks by themselves. At home, when I have limited time or when doing a task that requires
my special attention, I do the work myself. Thus, I use this pattern when needed.
Lastly, I use Confluence at a Use First level. I am a risk-taker. For instance, after practising
as an investment advisor for years, I decided to take a sabbatical from the profession. I enrolled
for education, I have already completed my bachelor’s degree, and now I am pursuing my
Masters. Also, I enjoy doing things my own way. I see situations differently than other people
do. For instance, most of my friends and colleagues in the finance field had advised me to pursue
further education in finance. However, I knew I would be happier and achieve more by pursuing
education, and that is what I did.
Overall, taking the LCI changed my understanding of my own learning. It made me aware of
so many things about how I learn that I had not earlier noted. For instance, previously, I would
not have considered myself as a person who needs step-by-step directions when completing my
tasks. However, after a reflection, I realized that the reason why I ask many questions is that I
like getting clear and thorough instructions of how a task should be accomplished. This applies
to me at a personal level, professionally and even academically. Also, the results have validated
that I am a neat person. I have always known this and the people I interact with both at home and
professionally know that I stay in a neat office, I like neatly done work, and I do my work neatly
as well. I am surprised that I am not at first use level in the technical reasoning level. I thought I
use this pattern most of the times, but according to the results, I only use it when the need arises.
