To start, you canThe video The Perishable Perils of Plagiarism by Melissa Huseman D’Annunzio holds that
plagiarism demeans the values of original thinking. The article outlines several ways through
which plagiarism occurs, such as brain child-snatching and self-plagiarism (Huseman
D’Annunzio, 2020). The solution to plagiarism is having writers who are willing to take their
time, resources, and put in the effort to do their work without copying what others have done.
They engage in correct paraphrasing and acknowledge any outside sources of ideas by correctly
citing their work. The video’s key theme is academic honesty and integrity by avoiding
plagiarism. In this course’s, assignments and discussion postings, honesty, and integrity will earn
me good grades. Thus, I will engage in correct paraphrasing and do my work without
relying on that of others. Secondly, the video, “How to Write a Good Essay: Paraphrasing the
Question provides tips on how to correctly paraphrase. The idea should be to change the words
and sentence structure, but ensure that the meaning remains the same (Lombeida, 2020). During
the assignments and discussion postings in this course, I will use these tips to demonstrate good
paraphrasing skills. This is one of the ways through which I will prove that I understand the text
or articles that I will be using.
The policy on academic integrity can be violated in this course by copying other students’ work
or copying for other online and offline resources. A student can also cheat through wrongful
paraphrasing (University of Maryland Global Campus, 2020). This is where a student
paraphrases an author’s work but presents it as his or her own work. This occurs by failing to
correctly cite any information that is gotten from other sources.
I will uphold academic integrity by ensuring that I put in the time and effort to complete all my
assignments independently. I will not copy other students’ assignments or allow anyone to copy
my assignments. I will ensure that I provide correct citations for any sources used. When
paraphrasing, I will do it correctly, ensuring that I indicate the correct source of information.
Additionally, I will only use scholarly sources unless instructed otherwise. Thus, I will not use
unauthorized sources to complete my assignments.
