In completing the project, I first went through the list of topics that had been provided. We had to
choose from a list that had both contemporary and historical subjects. I knew that I wanted a
contemporary subject. I am more passionate about contemporary subjects because I feel that thy impact
me directly. This is not to mean that historical subjects are not important. However, I lean more towards
contemporary subjects. While history teaches us about our past, contemporary issues require our
attention and immediate action. The list provided several options. After reading them through, I selected
the subject of environmental protection.
Environmental protection is a topic that I have been passionate about and curious about for a
long time. I have read many articles, watched videos, attended webinars, and watched documentaries on
the environment and why it is important to protect it. I am a supporter of the green initiative and believe
that we should all strive to engage in sustainable activities. We have only one planet. We must protect it
and use the limited resources at our disposal responsibly because if we do not, then we and future
generations will suffer the consequences. After selecting the topic, I organized my thoughts. I wrote
down my ideas in short form. I then prepared a rough draft, read it aloud, and identified ideas that
needed more refining and those that needed a reorganization. I then completed the final draft with all the
changes made.

- After you have completed your project, reflect on how effective you think your project was in
delivering your message. What worked well, and what could you have done better? What would you
do differently if you had the opportunity to do it again?

I think that my project effectively delivered my intended message. In the essay, I explained ways in
which humans can conduct themselves to build a sustainable economy. I also explained the benefits of
conserving the environment. For instance, when we protect the environment, we avert certain calamities
associated with environmental destruction. Some of these include flooding, prolonged drought, and
storms. To further argue for my ideas, I explained that when we allow the calamities to take course, we
risk several consequences. For instance, there is loss of life, destruction of property, and people also lose
livelihoods. Some people are displaced from their homes permanently, and their lives disrupted.
My methods worked. I was effective in passing across my message. I felt that I did everything well.
The essay was an effective medium to pass across the message. Given another opportunity to do it, I
would still write the essay the way I did. I would probably just include some images to further illustrate
my ideas.
- In terms of both subject matter and planning a presentation for an audience, what did you learn while
completing this project?

I learned that when planning a presentation to an audience, it is important to get the facts right. It
would be wrong and misleading to present information that is unverified, incorrect, or biased. Thus,
when planning a presentation, it is important to read widely. It is also important to organize ideas first
before preparing the final document. This ensures that the flow of ideas is good and that the ideas are
organized in order of importance. Planning also helps identify gaps in the presentation so that I can read
more and include a complete project. When it comes to choosing a subject, a relevant and current

subject is better. The subject matter is as important as the planning process itself. Selecting a subject
matter that one is passionate about helps in completing the project with increased efficiency.
