Teaching is a complex and challenging profession. A successful teacher is one who plans
on how to carry out different instruction activities effectively. Teaching entails different roles
such as the use and analysis of data, collaboration with colleagues, and designing activities that
help the teacher connect well with the students. However, one of the most critical activities is the
development of a supportive classroom environment. A teacher creates this by planning how to
manage the classroom setting effectively. An excellent instructional management plan is one of
the prerequisites in becoming a successful teacher. This paper outlines an effective instructional
management plan clearly showing the vital components of a plan necessary in teaching, learning,
as well as managing a classroom environment.
Goal of Plan
This instructional management plan creates conducive conditions for earning and
teaching and clearly outlines the roles of every involved individual. I believe that this plan will
create a positive learning environment within which every student will effectively realize their
full potential. Through this plan, I deliberately outline the decisions and actions that I will make
in creating a conducive instructional environment. One of the major decisions is on the
classroom arrangement, specifically how the desks will be organized. Also, students will be
required to work collaboratively. I will organize them in collaborative teams within which
classroom discussions will be conducted. I will establish rules that will guide in the constructive
resolution of conflicts if and when they occur. My target audience is learners in grade 11.
Simplicity is vital when establishing an instructional management plan (Newman, 2019).
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT PLAN 3
Simplicity will be maintained; this will help me remain sane, as well as make it easier for
learners to comply to set rules and codes of conduct. The instructional environment will be
flexible, allow for the exploration of ideas, and give students time and space to come up with
creative ideas. This will be reflected in the classroom arrangement.
Rules and Expectations
One of the components of the assertive discipline model is that an effective instructional
management plan entails a set of firm, consistent, and fair rules (Newman, 2019). Besides,
having clear rules and expectations helps ensure that everyone works effectively. It is also
instrumental in avoiding time wastage. The following rules will apply:
Rule Rationale
Respect your teacher and classmates This ensures a harmonious co-existence with
one another. It is important to treat others the
way we would want to be treated.
Observe class time and come ready to learn We want to ensure that no time is wasted and
that we do everything during its allocated
time. Observing time ensures that every
learner gets an opportunity to learn.
Keep your objects, feet, and hands to yourself This is aimed at ensuring that we do not
distract others using either our feet, hands, or
any objects.
Take care of school property, and be
considerate of other students’ property
We want to avoid destruction and make
optimal use of the resources available to us.
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT PLAN 4
Role of Learners
In my instructional setting, every student will take ownership of their actions and be
responsible for creating a positive learning environment that values a safe and positive learning
environment. Students will also take full participation in instructional activities. For instance,
discussion and presentation. Full engagement will help maximize learning opportunities. It will
also be crucial in setting the learning tone. Students will achieve this by complying to set rules
and expectations. Another role will be to meet academic expectations such as take part in
collaborative group assignments, engage in independent study, and complete all assignments as
instructed.
Your Role
The success of any learning process mostly relies on the proper management of the
instructional environment. My primary role will be the management of the classroom
environment (Gujjar & Choudhry, 2009). I will do this by organizing procedures, planning
resources to ensure that they align with set goals. Also, I will monitor the progress made by
students. Mainly, this will be done by looking at student performance, alongside their set goals.
Thus, I will also facilitate goal setting at a personal level, and for the entire class. The other role
will entail arranging the instructional environment in a way that will maximize efficiency. The
arrangement will be flexible to allow learners to engage in different activities that will facilitate
learning efficiently. My role as an instructor will favor a more learner-centered instructional
approach. The techniques I will use will be learner-centered and will entail active learner
participation. Lastly, I will mentor the students and encourage them to be the best versions of
themselves.
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT PLAN 5
Strategies to Engage and Motivate Learners
Newman (2019) states that there is no one-size-fits-all strategy when it comes to
motivating students. Different strategies work for diverse groups of students. Thus, it is
important to employ a variety of strategies to meet the diverse needs of different students. I will
build trusting relationships. MacGrath states that relationships are central to teaching because
they are based on communication (Newman, 2019). I will establish working relationships with
students not only as their instructor, but also as their mentor, surrogate parent, guardian, friend,
nurse, and even as a social worker. The diversified nature of these relationships will ensure that I
help them not only at an academic level but also holistically in dealing with life’s challenges.
Secondly, I will utilize engaging instructional techniques and practices. I will engage in
quality teaching and work toward positively impacting students’ achievement. This will entail
using techniques that help students connect the content learned in school with their daily lives.
The relevance of content learned will motivate students to learn. Also, the use of collaborative
strategies will help in creating engaging lessons. The elimination of boredom motivates students
to study more.
Implementation Plan
I will introduce the plan to the students formally in the classroom. I will also send the
plan to the students so that each one of them will have a copy in the tablet or email. Then, I will
go through the plan together with the students and discuss it with them to get their opinions
about it. For instance, I will explain the rules and rationale for each of them. This will ensure that
even as they follow the rules, they understand the reason behind their compliance.
Collaboration
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT PLAN 6
I will be deliberate in understanding my student’s passions, interests, and connect with
them a personal level. I will engage the students in developing a sense of community. This will
be through establishing shared values that will unify us and provide a common purpose. Also, I
will celebrate my student’s accomplishments together with them. After connecting with the
students at a personal level, it will be possible to have them take part in activities that will foster
their growth personally and academically. The collaboration will require commitment. Students
will work together in groups, and each will be committed to the purpose of those groups. To
ensure that there are collaboration and commitment, I will assign students to groups, which will
not change. They will work together and grow together personally and academically.

INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT PLAN 7
The classroom seating arrangement will take a u-shaped layout. Since the instruction will
be learner-centered, this seating arrangement will ensure it is easy to see and hear everyone.
Also, the front part of the classroom commands the attention of the students whenever I will be
making explanations or facilitating discussions. It makes it easy when learners are making
presentations.
Conclusion
Overall, I will utilize this instructional plan in the future to create a positive instructional
environment for my students. Through this plan, I will be in a position to establish ways in which
my classroom will function. It will also be instrumental in helping me focus on teaching and
learning issues. Using my plan, I will be able to keep the learners on track, manage disciplinary
issues, and avoid distractions that will hinder the realization of set goals. I will use the plan as a
priority list to know what should be done and when it should be done. It will ensure that I remain
on track and that I do not encounter issues managing the learning environment.
