The assessment tool helps identify areas that I need to work on to become a better
leader. It also helps in creating a support system as a leader, at least by having one person
who acts as an accountability partner. Accountability partners help keep us grounded and
doing the right thing (Turner & Conroy, 2021). In some instances, the team working under
me may shy off from pointing out a mistake. However, the presence of such a partner helps
ensure that an issue is addressed before it aggravates. Thus, any seasoned leader should take
the test and help track their growth and progress as a leader. One of the disadvantages of this
tool is that it works best for seasoned or experienced leaders. At least someone who has been
in a leadership position for several years.
Your Assessment Strategy, Overall Methodology (model), and Process
There are many different methods of assessing one’s leadership style. Leadership
styles vary from one individual to the other. The Process employed in filling questionnaires
that assess different leadership styles. The Process involved answering questions that test
various aspects of leadership. The score would then be interpreted based on an existing
leadership scale. The test process is based on ensuring that one answers the questions in an
honest manner. If one fails to answer the questions in a factual manner, this could result in
results that do not reflect an individual’s leadership style. The questions analyze the traits that
would make one fit different leadership roles and responsibilities.
Personal Leadership Appraisal
I scored 106 on the leadership blind spot survey. The score is aligned to an individual
who has a moderate probability of blind spots. Every leader has some blind spots. All leaders
may be missing certain crucial information that aids in their success. Blind spots can also

help insulate a leader from reality and, in so doing, result in inaccurate decisions. Blind spots
result from past experiences as well as beliefs (Princetonmc, 2021). The Blind Spot Survey is
important in highlighting the blind spots that a leader may have. It helps ensure that a leader
avoids the blind spots that may affect their decision-making process. It helps in the
elimination of biases and beliefs that could have an adverse impact on the ability of the leader
to lead an organization. My score of 106 means that I have to work on my blind spots to
become a better leader.
Based on USC’s Leadership Style Self-Assessment, I am a servant leader. My results
indicate that I focus on the needs of others before focusing on those of my own. I am a good
listener who focuses on the problems that others may be having. I possess the ability to
understand what people may be going through. I take notice of important nonverbal cues such
as body language (USC, 2021). I am empathetic to the plight of other people. I recognize the
emotions of others, and I am willing to help those in distress. I am willing to help others who
may be going through difficult times. In addition, I possess an excellent level of self-
awareness. I recognize my strengths and weaknesses, and I always consider how my actions
could impact other people.
I possess a great level of persuasion. In leadership positions, a servant leader is
willing to persuade people instead of imposing their ideas. I aim to ensure that I achieve a
consensus in teams before moving forward. I focus on building relationships as a leader as
opposed to destroying relationships. I try to ensure that everyone is moving in the same
direction. I articulate my ideas to all and ensure that we are able to move together as a group
(USC, 2021). In addition, I am able to offer foresight and stewardship, and this promotes the
progression of groups that I am tasked with the leadership position.

The use of leadership questionnaires offers various advantages as well as
disadvantages. One of the main advantages relates to ease in completing the assessments. The
assessments are relatively short and comprise of a few questions (Dulewicz & Higgs, 2005).
The Process saves time and ensures that one is able to evaluate various leadership traits. The
assessments are inexpensive, and one can complete many assessments in a short period of
time. The assessments ensure that one makes better decisions on their leadership styles. One
of the main disadvantages relates to the inaccuracy that may be associated with the
assessment process. One may answer questions wrongly, and this can affect the credibility of
the scores (Dulewicz & Higgs, 2005). The construction of the test may make them unreliable
and unscientific. The test can also carry certain biases especially cultural bias. The
individuals who designed the test can have certain biases that may be reflected in the testing
process.
Conclusion and Enhancement Plan
Overall, leadership is complex and multifaceted, and so are the leadership assessment
tools as well as the work needed to become a better leader. Leadership assessment tools and
techniques help one identify the kind of a leader they are by providing a series of practical
steps that, when applied, help measure a person’s leadership potential, skills, and abilities.
After using the tools to identify my leadership status, I came up with a plan on how to boost
and enhance the relevant skills to become a better leader. First, I will focus on mastering the
key skills that I noticed were missing after taking the leadership assessment tests. These skills
include listening attentively, consulting during decision-making, and providing feedback.
Secondly, I will take on strategic responsibilities. For example, I will take on new projects
and challenge myself. I will also build new skills as I explore new areas and practice more on
my strengths while trying to address the weak areas. I will also seek to build new
relationships. In my position, I interact with many people. I will identify individuals with

whom I wish to have a strong, mutually benefiting relationship and then build it by reaching
out and starting a conversation. Lastly, I will seek to strike a balance at all times by choosing
certain tasks to complete on my own and then delegate others.
