Most Interesting Topic

The topic that I found most interesting was human resource trends. The past decade
has seen major changes in human resource management. These changes have been brought
about by technological developments, such as artificial intelligence and big data analytics. The
changes in human resources industry have also been a result of changing demographics as
millennials enter the workforce in large numbers. This new generation of employees have a
different perspective of what makes a great workplace. HR will, therefore, have to adjust their
practices to meet the needs of younger employees.
I was especially interested in this topic because of it covered factors that have the
potential of changing human resources into something completely different from the way we
know it. Given the importance that human resource departments play in organizations, these
HR trends may in the near future be causes of either failure or success of various business
organizations. In a very competitive landscape, organizations that are going to ignore these
trends are likely to lose out to their rivals who will embrace these changes.
Of note to me is how human resources are going to use technology to perform some of
its most important functions – staffing and performance management. Granted, technology
will help HR perform these functions in a more effective manner. However, there are also
worries that widespread adoption of these technologies may lead to significant job losses in
the industry.
While it is not easy to predict how the HR industry will be in future, it is clear that in
the coming decades it will be vastly different from the way it currently is. It will be interesting
to see which technologies and workplace practices HR industry eventually adopts.
