Positive and Negative Impacts of Globalization

Globalization has had both positive and negative impacts. One of the main positive
impacts of globalization is the fact that it has made international trade possible. Today it is easy
to purchase products from different parts of the world. As a consumer, my welfare has been
improved due to globalization (Collins, 2015). Globalization has increased competition, and this
has resulted in high-quality goods and services and lower costs of goods and services. In
addition, globalization has created opportunities for economic growth (Collins, 2015). I have
worked with multinational companies, and this has only been possible due to globalization. I
have friends who also work with multinational companies, and to this end, globalization has
helped in the creation of jobs. Globalization has also helped in the exchange of cultures. Today,
many people understand different cultures that are part of the world. I have become a global
citizen by learning different cultural practices.
One problem related to globalization revolves around the loss of jobs. Many corporations
are preferring to outsource their production to other nations. Some people have thus lost jobs as a
result of globalization (Collins, 2015). Manufacturing jobs are increasingly being lost to other
nations. Certain countries, such as China, have cheaper labor. Overall, while globalization has
various negative effects, I feel that it is largely positive. A lot has been achieved as a result of
globalization, and the world is a better place.
