To start, you canLessons learned within the past four weeks center around evaluation and measurement of
performance in the workplace (week 1), business evaluation strategy (week 2), needs assessment
(week 3), and planning and communication using tools (week 4). One key takeaway from week 1
is the importance of strategic planning for leadership development, including the challenges of
leadership diversity and training, succession planning and stagnation in leadership roles, and
cultural and regional variances that hinder global organizations. Diversity leadership requires
understanding the negative and positive processes that diversity can instigate (Homan et al.,
2020). Also, several conditions necessary for sustained performance improvement were
identified, including setting SMART goals, providing feedback, changing requirements, and
controlling resources based on feedback output (Moseley, 2010).
In week 2, several techniques for collecting and documenting data, such as interviews
and questionnaires, were examined. In week 3, one of the key lessons learned is the use of
Gilbert’s behavior engineering model (BEM) to assess the need for training. BEM examines the
behavior and conditions that may impact motivation to learn and performance (Freeman &
Stefaniak, 2020). Finally, in week 4, I learned the important role the Kirkpatrick model plays in
monitoring the effectiveness of an organization’s training program. The four levels involved
include reaction, learning, behavior, and results (Andreev, 2023).
Reflecting upon the last four weeks of class write a one page summary of what you have learned
and how it affects you and your life or work circumstances. Attach the one page in the Discussion
Forum.
