Catholics who are opponents of legal abortion believe that it denies the unborn child the right to
life. Some of the questions asked in the report include why most Catholics are opposed to legal
abortion. Also, the other question asked in the report is what circumstances can abortion be
allowed, including when the life of the mother of the child is threatened by the pregnancy (Smith
Gregory). The number of people who took part in the poll is not defined, although a majority of
the U.S adults participated. Most of the participants supported legal abortion, especially in a case
of rape and if the life of the mother is at risk.
Remarkably, the above questions can help researchers to obtain information about the
opinions of the respondents regarding abortion, especially why they support or oppose it.
Additionally, the researchers can obtain information about the dignity that people accord life, as
abortion significantly undermines the right to life of the unborn child (Smith Gregory). Notably,
the researchers may be unable to obtain information about why most Catholics oppose legal
abortion because most of them will say that it is a doctrine they have to observe. It is vital to
acknowledge that certain religions, including Islam, Confucianism, and Judaism, may be left out
of the questions asked about abortion in the report because their opinions are not put into
consideration. Notably, the research questions in the report apply to Confucianism because this
