I agree with the quote. I feel that students are not only motivated using deliberate strategies that
the teacher chooses to use in the classroom. The school environment and its structure also
motivate a student. A student from a minority community may fin no one within the faculty or
the school staff to relate to. They may think that there are no opportunities for people like them
within society. An inclusive faculty motivates students and widens their perspective. They have
people to relate with, they are also exposed to different cultures and perspectives and this allows
for development and growth.

within the learning environment, but also in the real world. The application of the 21 st century
skills in the classroom ensure that students are prepared to take on different roles in the real

Hello Donald, communication is important in any communication. It is one of the 21 st century
skills that learners should learn and master as it influences their suitability in the modern society.
Second language learners may sometimes struggle with communication as they are required to

demonstrated mastery of a second language, whose basics and rules they are still learning. you
mentioned that you would research materials in the student’s native language so as to get to help
them get a better understanding of the vocabularies in the second language that they are learning.
I think that would a brilliant idea. According to Schneiderman (1986), one of the principles of
god teaching is to always teach from the known to the unknown. Using a language that students
already understand to teach another that they are trying to acquire mastery is an effective
technique. The goal is to be competent in English, thus, approaching the new language from
what is already known helps with the mastery of the second language.
