A suitable alternate analysis tool will be SWOT analysis. PESTLE does a good job at
analyzing how various external factors may influence the operations of a business. However,
it does not examine the internal factors which may also have an impact on its operations
(Anton, 2015). SWOT analysis examines both the internal and external environment of the
business.

Additional modifications for the selected tool

The selected tool used, PESTLE, can be modified to make it more effective in
assessing the competitiveness of the business. The best way of modifying it is using it in
combination with SWOT analysis. While the PESTLE analysis tool will examine external
factors influencing the business, SWOT analysis will help in analyzing the business’ internal
factors.

The best alternate analysis tool is PESTLE analysis. The tool helps businesses to
understand the extent to which various external influences are likely to have on the business
(Anton, 2015). PESTLE is an acronym for political, economic, sociocultural, technology,
legal, and environmental factors. All these factors impact the operations of a business and,
therefore, its competitiveness. The great thing about PESTLE is that it allows an organization
to zero-in on a factor that is likely to have the most effect on its operations and conduct a
thorough analysis of the chosen issue. For instance, an organization may focus on how
technological changes may affect its business or the impact of a newly-passed law on its
operations.

Additional modifications for the selected tool

The selected tool may be modified by using it in combination with another tool. I
believe that the best additional tool would be SWOT analysis. SWOT analysis gives a general
overview of the business’ external and internal factors that affect its competitiveness. It lets
an organization know the kind of action that it needs to take in the internal environment in
order to better handle threats or make use of opportunities in its external environment.

The alternate analysis tool that is suitable for the business is Five Forces tool. Five
Forces model has five factors. These factors include competitive rivalry, threat of new entry,
buyer power, supplier power, and substitution threat (Oneren, Arar & Yurdakul, 2017). The
Five Forces model helps a business to find out the competitive advantages that it has in
various areas. It also helps a business to analyze the competitors of the business and the
various ways that the competitors may inhibit its success. It is a great tool that helps
businesses to make decisions about its future.

Additional modifications for the selected tool

The selected tool can be modified by using it with another tool. The other tool will
help to address some of the weaknesses of the selected tool so that the business gets to know
its true competitive position. The best complementing tool for PESTLE model is Porter’s
Five Forces. The PESTLE model simply examines the external factors that may affect an
organization’s competitiveness. The Five Forces identifies the strengths and weaknesses of a
business with regards to five external factors that affect its competitiveness. Thus, while the
PESTLE model will help in the analysis of external factors affecting the competitiveness of a
business, Porter’s Five Forces will help it identify its strengths and weaknesses in the market.
