Can you name any projects or inquiries that
you participated in as a student? Did they
teach you any other skills besides the
particular content area?
One of the projects but I remember was that
throughout fourth-grade, we had a monthly
project. Every month, our teacher would select
a type of literature such as fiction or biography.
We would then chose a book or an author, ad
the teacher would approve our choices or make
new recommendations. We would then discuss
the key features of the selected genre. Some of
the things we would look at were what made a
good fictional story, or biography? we would
then demonstrate our understanding of the story
through or general ideas of the book through
writing the summaries. In the end, what was
fascinating the most is drawing a diagram
showing the critical idea in the book, and then
propose a new ending to the book. I liked this
part because it engaged my mind, and
sharpened my critical thinking skills. I also
improved greatly on my language abilities.

experience was beneficial to me. First, through
mock trials, my imagination was enhanced. I
acquired ad enhanced on essential skills such as
critical thinking and public speaking. I became
better at the art of forming persuasive and
cohesive arguments. Mock trials equipped me
with skills that have been practical to me even
as an adult. For instance, I have been able to
pitch ideas to my boss and to persuade clients
that my services are better than those being
offered elsewhere. I acquired these skills
through mock trials and they have been useful
to me in other areas of life.
Engaging in debates when I was a student
equipped me with 21 st -century competencies.
Most of my learning took place in the late 19 th
century. However, the skills I received then
have made me a better professional and
enhanced my qualifications in the current
century. I am an eloquent and assertive person,
who supports what he believes in, thus, the
projects that I undertook in school have been
applicable in my life. particularly critical
thinking skills.
