Yes, there are many.
If so, what is the name of the organization and when do they meet?
There are many Math student organizations. They include Radical Pi Math Club, Association
for Women in Mathematics (AWM), and Actuarial Club of Ohio State (ACOS). Radical Pi
Math Club brings together all students with a strong interest in Math from The Ohio State
University. The club’s meetings take place every Wednesday in the Undergraduate Math
Study Space at 5 pm. Even though its name suggests that it is a women-only organization, the
Association of Women in Mathematics (AWM) also has male members. The organization
usually meets when a speaker is invited to talk to members. Thus, unlike the Radical Pi Math
Club, its meetings are not regular. Lastly, the Actuarial Club of Ohio State (ACOS) brings
together students who are interested in actuarial science as a career. The club’s page on the
department’s website provides updates of club meetings for members and other interested
students.
Does your major department provide opportunities for undergraduate research?
Yes, the department provides various opportunities for undergraduate research.
If so, describe one step you can take toward getting involved in undergraduate
research?
The department’s faculty members often post various research projects that they plan to work
on and invite undergraduate students to help with the research. Thus, one step that a student
can take to get involved in undergraduate research is to check the department’s website for
faculty members who need help from undergraduate students in conducting their research
projects.

What is one step you can take toward finding an internship related to your major area
of study?
The university provides multiple internship opportunities for undergraduate students. In
particular, the university’s Center for Career and Professional Success helps students to get
experiential learning opportunities. These opportunities include not just off-campus research
projects, and volunteer positions but also internships. Additionally, the Center for Career and
Professional Success also helps students to quickly find jobs after they graduate.
