 Collaboration is a school set-up that has been instrumental in enhancing performance
among the learners. The first step is to ensure that there is clarity of purpose. The teachers
will be divided differently into disciplinary teams as well as self-selected teams. Thus,
making it good to have clarity of purpose and a shared vision that will guide their
productivity at school every day. Thus, I will create a vision and goals that will truly be
shared among my colleagues as well as the learners that I will be instructing. I will work
towards ensuring that they feel a level of ownership, and this will help us work towards
the realization of the common vision.
 Then, I will work towards developing a sense of community. Collaboration is relational,
thus establishing a good working relationship with my colleagues will foster
collaboration. As such, I will be deliberate about understanding my colleague’s passions,
interests, and connect with them at a personal level. Also, I will establish shared values as
this can unify us and provide us with a common purpose to work together. I will celebrate
their accomplishments together with them. Collaboration requires trust to achieve and

effort to maintain. After connecting at a personal level, it will be possible to engage in
activities together that will foster our professional growth. The genuine collaboration will
ultimately bear fruits. Growing and developing professionally are some of the fruits.
However, it will take time and commitment to the process.
 Through identifying group norms, I will enhance transparency amongst my colleagues. I
will work to establish a climate of trust by establishing a safe working environment. This
will start by ensuring that I encourage my colleagues and lead by example by assisting
any colleague in need of support. As we grow personally and professionally, we will
eventually establish and build candid professional relationships. Celebrating success,
both personally and professionally, and being respectful towards each other are some of
the ways through which candid collaboration will be achieved.
 Strong collaboration requires a commitment to the process (Lopez, 2013). Time can
sometimes be a highly contentious issue. Through time banking and respect of time, a
harmonious working relationship can be achieved. I will lead by example by ensuring
that I respect other people’s time. If a staff meeting starts at 10.00 am, then I arrive ahead
of time and issue apologies in case of absence or lateness. I will create a culture where
time is valued by both teachers and students. Although lateness will be excused, it will
not be condoned without a valid reason. Thus, through respecting the time and doing the
right thing at the right time, we will be in a position to work towards a shared vision and
collaborate effectively.
Identify your strengths that could contribute to the success of the system of collaboration.
One of my strengths from the test is that I am a catalyst; I have an objective to act as well
as initiate action. I make decisions, I take action, I look out for the results, and I learn through the

process. As a catalyst, I will succeed in implementing my collaboration system. I will lead my
team and will be taking note of the lessons that we will learn through the process of
collaboration. Learning from the results will ensure that we modify areas that could hinder the
success of the collaboration system. My second strength is that I am a self-believer. I believe in
my abilities to bring confidence to others. The inner confidence and self-motivation make it easy
for me to pass the same spirit to others. This strength will enable me to foster the spirit of
togetherness amongst my colleagues. I will pass the same morale to my colleagues and students
and ensure that collaboration works to achieve great results.
Third, I am an optimist. I carry with me a positive spirit. I am a person who always
manages to find a way to make things work. I have a way of injecting enthusiasm into other
people. With this trait, I am certain that I will successfully implement my collaboration plan and
accomplish my goals. My strength enables me to motivate other people and is key to the
mitigation of conflicts. During the collaboration, conflicts are likely to occur. I will strive to find
an amicable solution so that the collaborative efforts will not be thwarted. As an optimist, a
catalyst, and a person who believes in himself, I am certain that I will sail through the process of
implementing my plan and accomplishing my collaboration statement.
Discuss some of the challenges that may arise from creating and implementing this system
of collaboration.
Collaboration requires time and effort to maintain. Not all colleagues and students will be
ready to put in the required effort required for the successful implementation of my system. The
system will be my idea, and I will be leading, but I will require my colleagues and the students to
be active participants in the implementation. Ensuring that the vision is shared among all
colleagues might be hectic. For instance, in terms of respecting time, some people might not be

good at it, leading to conflicts from time to time. Those committed might feel that some are
dragging their efforts behind. Thus, I think that one of the main challenges is ensuring that
everyone is on the same page. Another challenge is time. In a school set-up, time is one of the
most valuable resources. To ensure that my collaboration system is well implemented, I will
need time to share the plan with my colleagues and students. Given that school time is usually
allocated to different activities, I will be required to get extra time to share my ideas and plan.
Thus, time will be a challenge that I will encounter during the implementation process.
Describe one or two ways to overcome these challenges.
First, with the integration of technology in schools, I will share my ideas with my
colleagues via email. I will also share videos with them on how I intend to go about the
implementation process. I will ask for their feedback and respond accordingly so as to engage
them in productive conversations. The more I interact with them, the more my ideas will get
enriched, and the easier to will be to implement the process. Then, during the staff meeting, I
will request for time to explain my system with them and ask for one-on-one feedback. That
way, it will be easier to share my vision with them, as well as engage them in candid
collaboration.
Explain how this system of collaboration could be used to implement an instructional
management plan.
The collaboration system can be used in the implementation of an instructional
management plan, through co-planning meetings and peer observation. Teachers will take part in
informal meetings and mentor and get mentored by their more-experienced and seasoned
colleagues. By so doing, they will learn and experiment with new instructional strategies as well

as co-construct their comprehension and perception of instructional practices and policies.
Consecutively, through being part of such collaborative meetings, teachers will grow
professionally, and this will shape their teaching practice (Johnston & Berglund, 2018). The new
skills will be incorporated in the implementation of the instructional management plan, thus
enhancing student success. Besides, discussion instructional practice helps identify the strengths
and weaknesses of the instructional management plan. Weaknesses are worked upon to ensure
the successful implementation of the plan.
Further, “collaboration among teachers has long been considered a best practice for
teaching groups of diverse K-12 students” (York-Barr et al., 2004). Through team teaching,
learner diversity is well accommodated. Different teachers incorporate different instructional
strategies, thus making it easier to meet diverse learning needs among the students. Through my
system, teachers will identify a common shared vision which they will be working together to
achieve. Through co-teaching, they will impellent the instructional management plan better
because each will be assigned an area that they are good at. Besides, collaboration and teaming
among teachers have been found to expose them to diverse and specialized fields in their
practice, and this has facilitated professional growth and development. When teachers work
together, it is easy to implement the instructional management plan.
