The Smartphone Camera and Photography

During the 21 st century, smartphone camera use has significantly changed how people use
and view photography. Additionally, social media and mobile applications have changed how
people share photography. The invention of the smartphone has changed the aptitude to promptly
access pictures every time and instantly share photos with a large group of people.
How Smartphone Camera Invention Has Changed Photography
The current advancement in mobile phones and the digital camera has significantly
facilitated the production of higher-quality images. The use of smartphone cameras in digital
photography has enabled individuals to assess image quality immediately after taking pictures
(Nesemann et al., 2020). Simultaneously, digital photography enhances easier photo editing and
ensures the production of perfect photographs every time. On the other hand, the smartphone
camera has also mildly inconvenienced the world of professional photography. For example, a
wedding photographer’s increasingly complaining that guests often ruin professional photos
using amateur cellphone shots.

How Social Media and Apps have Changed the Way, we Share Photos.
Social media and mobile applications have significantly changed how we share photos.
Amid the current technological advancement, photo sharing has become instantaneous
(Anderson & Rainie, 2018). People find it easy and fast to capture and share photos online with
their friends, family, and online fans and followers. Frank Kaufmann, an educator, scholar, and
activist, notes that social media and apps enhance the lives of people, especially those who can
avoid its dominance and forced debilitating addictions (Anderson & Rainie, 2018). Technology
enables people to benefit and grow loving relationships among family and friends who can now
feel close regardless of the geographical distance. However, social media and apps also tragically

deter the addicted from growing and benefiting exquisite encounters such as personal and
physical presence (Anderson & Rainie, 2018).
Conclusively, the smartphone camera, social media, and mobile apps have significantly
changed modern photography. Despite the positive impacts of these technologies, professional
photographers find it difficult to enjoy and benefit from their profession since many people
prefer to stake and share pictures using their smartphones.
