whether or not the extent of support that nurses feel they receive is linked with the standardized
terminologies they employ in EHRs.

The researchers used multiple linear regression to examine the connection between the extent of
perceived support offered by EHRs among nurses and the application of particular standardized

variables. There was no statistical significance in perceived support given by EHRs between
participants that did not use standardized terminology and those that used it (p = 0.48).

The first weakness of the study was that it used a non-validated questionnaire since no valid
questionnaire exists at present. This can be addressed by consulting relevant and up-to-date
literature in the nursing practice. Secondly, the mean age of participants used in the study (49
years) is greater than the countrywide average age of Dutch nurses employed in nursing homes
and home care, mental healthcare, and hospitals (41-45 years). This can be addressed by
adjusting the mean age of respondents to between 41 and 45 years.

EHRs and other digital nursing documentation can enhance the quality of nursing care by
supplying necessary information and data about nursing interventions/solutions and patients’
needs. The outcomes of this study reveal and underpin the need to develop EHRs and electronic
documentation techniques that are accurate, relevant, and complete to support nursing decisions.
